Data categories, purposes, and meaningful choice
Necessary local data: your analytics consent choice and last international locale are stored in this browser. The locale is kept for up to 90 days only to show a return suggestion on the Korean home page and never triggers an automatic redirect. If the browser sends Global Privacy Control, StarsWithMe stores analytics denied as a stricter product choice.
Optional analytics after opt-in: page URL and title, browser and device information, interaction events, cookie or client identifiers, and an approximate region inferred from network information. These data are used to understand reliability and improve page flows.
The purpose, main consequences, processors, cross-border handling, and withdrawal control are shown before optional analytics loads. Declining analytics does not change forecasts or access information.
These pages do not provide accounts, comments, ratings, photo uploads, or precise browser geolocation.
Consent, Québec technology notice, and withdrawal
Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity scripts are not loaded until you select Allow analytics. You may decline, reopen Privacy settings in the footer, or withdraw later. The allow and decline choices remain equally available.
For Québec visitors, optional cookies and client identifiers may support website measurement and technology-enabled usage profiling. That optional function is off until you activate it and can be deactivated through Privacy settings.
Withdrawal removes the tracking scripts, attempts to clear related first-party cookies, stores a denied choice, and reloads the page. Data already collected remains subject to the retention periods below and applicable rights.
Processors, disclosures, and cross-border handling
Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity process optional analytics. Cloudflare delivers the site and may process security and network logs. These providers operate global infrastructure and may process information outside Canada under contractual and legal safeguards.
Open-Meteo and CAMS supply build-time forecast context. ECCC, AQHI or Info-Smog, Parks Canada, provincial, municipal, Sépaq, and road authorities are source links or build inputs. StarsWithMe does not send them a visitor analytics identifier to serve a forecast page.
StarsWithMe does not sell personal information or use these pages for cross-site advertising profiles.
Retention
Your analytics preference remains in browser storage until you change it or clear site data. The last international locale expires after 90 days and is removed when you dismiss its return suggestion or clear site data.
User- and event-level Google Analytics data is retained for no more than 14 months under the StarsWithMe retention policy. Provider aggregate reports may not use the same user-level retention control.
Microsoft currently retains ordinary session recordings for 30 days and click or heatmap data, including labeled or favorited sessions, for up to 13 months. Security logs are retained only as long as reasonably needed for abuse prevention and legal obligations.
Access, correction, withdrawal, and complaints
You may ask what personal information we hold, request access or correction, withdraw consent, object to or stop optional processing, or request deletion where applicable. Withdrawing optional analytics does not affect the service already received.

Safeguards and service boundaries
StarsWithMe minimises collection, limits optional analytics to consented sessions, and applies retention and access controls appropriate to the information handled.
Stargazing scores are anonymous forecast decisions, not emergency, wildfire, air-quality, road, or aurora alerts. Official authorities remain the controlling safety sources.
