Pennsylvania DCNR documents public parking and restrooms for a few hours of stargazing. Current park alerts and the PA-44 arrival route remain separate checks.

Use the Night Sky Public Viewing Area for short-term viewing; this page does not grant overnight field access.

Reservation

No registration is represented for the public viewing area. The Overnight Astronomy Observation Field has a separate permit and fee.

Transport

Plan a private-vehicle return toward Coudersport and expect a dark, cool, and potentially damp mountain site.

Road and arrival

Current Pennsylvania DCNR alerts and the PA-44 or local road owner must be clear before departure.

Keep lights low and directed downward. Pets and alcohol are not allowed in the public viewing area.

Before you stargaze

• · Verify the lawful arrival point, current park or operator status, actual road owner, fuel, services, and return separately from the sky score.
