Checks before departure

The current DarkSky place page states public year-round access from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. without a lodging requirement. Operator and road status still require same-night verification.

Opening window

Current published policy: public access 7 p.m.-7 a.m., year-round; the operator may issue current changes or closures.

Reservation

Overnight lodging is not represented as required for the public night window. Events, rooms, and other activities may have separate booking rules.

Transport

Use the lodge arrival point and plan for remote Upper Peninsula weather, wildlife, snow, and limited services.

Road and arrival

Current MDOT Mi Drive and the actual local-road owner must be clear before departure.

Before you stargaze

• · Give your eyes about 10 minutes to adapt to the dark after arrival.
• · Keep flashlights and vehicle lights low for other stargazers.
• · Recheck NWS warnings, AirNow smoke, cloud, wind, heat, cold, and the managing authority immediately before departure.
• · Verify the lawful arrival point, current park or operator status, actual road owner, fuel, services, and return separately from the sky score.
